《本草中国》第二季延续以“本草”为核心要素，讲述的是本草的功能和用法。相对于第一季对本草药采摘、炮制、配伍的环节和流程展示外，第二季把“用药”作为故事的核心，通过本草把医生与患者的故事串联起来，呈现了四十余位以悬壶济世为己任的国医大师与中医药名老专家，展现他们令人叹为观止的医技和关乎生命的感人故事，充分彰显“大医精诚”的力量，渗透属于中国人的生命观、价值观和自然观。在独特的中国传统文化视角下，用传统中医药哲学“天、地、人”的思想统领全片，从而理解中医药中相互交织相互影响的伟大哲学命题内核。
