这部剧集由《愚人善事》（My Name Is Earl）创作人Greg Garcia打造。故事讲述23岁的Jimmy Chance与一个女人一夜风流之后，对方竟生下了他的女儿。更糟的是，这个女人随后被判处死刑，Jimmy必须独自抚养这个孩子。对已经问题重重的Chance一家来说，一个新家庭成员的意外出现让他们更加头疼。23岁的Jimmy Chance是个生活没有着落的年轻人，白天跟父亲一起替人洗游泳池挣生活费，晚上和一群狐朋狗友在一起狂欢。他没有自己的房子，只能跟母亲Virginia（Martha Plimpton扮演）和父亲Burt（Garret Dillahunt扮演）挤在一起
