瑞克将几十名伍德伯里居民救下并带回栖身的监狱，幸存者的队伍猛增到五十多人，食物和水的供给都出现了短缺，幸存者团体内部人们之间的关系也迅速发生着改变。[2]在面对着内部外部双重压力的同时，瑞克还要照顾他的孩子卡尔和朱迪思，尤其当他看到卡尔在这样的环境下逐渐养成了反社会的人格，他开始意识到自己需要多多关心自己的孩子。
